Vintage Armchair B3 'Wassily' by Marcel Breuer for Italian Gavina c.1962 Bauhaus.
Lightly refurbished Wassily chair in excellent condition from the licensed Gavina production of the chair ranging from 1962 until 1968.
Deep cleaned + restored both frame & leather. Re-stitched part of the seating, finished as original.
"Marcel Breuer designed the Wassily Chair (Model B3) in 1925 while at the Bauhaus, inspired by bicycle handlebars and the newly available seamless steel tubing. After painter Wassily Kandinsky admired the original prototype, Breuer made a second for him, giving the chair its famous name."
Over the years the licensed Wassily chair has only been produced by the Bauhaus Workshop, Thonet, Gavina and since 1968 up until today by Knoll that purchased Gavina in the end of the 60s.
have a second chair also from the Gavina production with it's original label that will go up on a second listing.
